💼
London Borough of Lewisham

Are you caring, compassionate, flexible and looking to make a difference in people’s lives?

The role
London Borough of Lewisham are looking for new Personal Assistants to join their PA Directory working in the care sector with vulnerable adults who have been assessed to receive a care package via direct payments and an opportunity to employ their own personal Assistant.
This is not a specific job, but is the opportunity for you to be added to the PA Directory. This allows local employers, who are sometimes funded by Adult Social Care, to purchase care services. They will be able to see your details (phone /email), availability, skills, and experience, and can then contact you about specific roles. These individual employers are sometimes only looking for a few hours each week, or possibly only term time or holiday PA’s. Others will be looking for regular PA’s to visit each week.

As a privately employed Personal Care Assistant, you will provide a high quality, flexible, person-centred care. The specific type of work will depend on the needs of the individual, and will be discussed with the potential employer during the recruitment process.

You will support individual employers to achieve their identified personal outcomes in a positive and responsive manner, supporting the development of skills, and working towards goals.

The role will involve:
• Building service user confidence with specific daily living tasks and helping individuals to learn new skills
• Support to attend community based activities/ appointments
• Personal care tasks (such as washing/dressing/feeding, hoisting, empty commodes, medication etc.)
• Domestic (shopping, cleaning & cooking)
• Sitting Service
Correspondents (such as assisting to read and complete)
• Assisting on public transport
