The Role

Our Grounds Maintenance team works with residents to deliver great housing services making Lewisham safer, cleaner and greener. As one of our gardeners, you will play a key role in making our estates great places to live and delivering fantastic customer service every day. Your main duties will include:


Maintaining communal garden areas

Delivering a customer-focused gardening service

Ensuring safe use of materials and equipment

Identifying and reporting nuisance and anti-social behaviour


You’ll need a positive attitude, a passion for nurturing and maintaining estate green spaces, with the energy and ability to provide a truly caring service. Experience of working with plants and maintaining estate green spaces

Ability to prioritise and solve problems in a dynamic environment

Ability to work on your own and be a team player
Good communication and reasonable written/numeracy skills

Apprenticeship Guidance Notes


To be eligible for a position on the Apprenticeship scheme you must

Be over the age of 16 (there is no upper age limit)

Be a Lewisham borough resident (the electoral register will be used to verify this information) 

Have full residency entitlement, there must be no restrictions on your status in the UK (all successful candidates will need to produce their passport once a job offer is made)

Have the minimum number of qualifications required as stated in the relevant job description (all potential applicants will be expected to attend an initial assessment session).
