The role

Lewisham Children Social Care are offering an exciting apprenticeship opportunity. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring young people in care to Lewisham have a key role in shaping their own futures.

The successful candidate will talk and above all listen to young people and range of other stakeholders to ensure that young people’s voices are at the heart of how Children Social Care engages with its children and young people.  The apprentice will play a key role in gleaning young people’s viewpoint and ensuring that young peoples’ opinions are heard and acted on by Children Social Care.

They will help to develop the soft skills that taking part in events, community engagement, culture that support young people’s ability to be an active member of their community.

Tasks will include’

•    supporting meetings
•    undertaking research via questionnaires/interviews,
•    Developing a social media platform,
•    General administrative tasks and supporting specific projects as required.

The role offers a wide range of experience and skills which will enable the apprentice to access a range of job opportunities upon completion. We welcome applications from those who can show commitment, perseverance, reliability, adaptability; a positive approach, and a good sense of humour!

What we’re looking for

We are looking for a person who has the ability to engage and with young people care whilst working accurately and quickly to meet deadlines, with good communication skills and is eager to contribute to the team.

•    Support from social workers and experienced managers throughout their apprenticeship. Once an apprenticeship is completed you’ll be in a strong position to move into permanent employment.
•    Attendance at the annual graduation ceremony, receiving certificates from the Mayor of Lewisham.

Guidance Notes

Please note this vacancy is funded via the Apprenticeship Levy and includes a mandatory qualification in Business Administration.  You must also:
•    Be over the age of 16 (there is no upper age limit)
•    Have a full residency entitlement, there must be no restrictions on your status in the UK (all successful candidates will need to produce their passport once a job offer is made)
•    Be able to pass an initial assessment test in English
•    Must be a Lewisham resident or a care experienced young person from Lewisham

Contract Length: 18 Months

Qualification you will be working towards: Level 3 qualification in Business Administration

£14,484 pa (pending pay award)
