1. Knowledge:
An understanding of the general theory and practice operating in the field
of child development. “S”
Understanding of the aims of an after-school and/or holiday programme and the need
to meet the children’s social, educational and recreational development needs “S”
Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues related to setting
up and running a play centre “S”
Understanding of basic nutritional value of food “S”
2. Aptitude:
Able to relate easily to children and young people
Reliability and punctuality & conscientious
3. Skills:
Ability to lead and motivate assistants “S”
Team working skills “S”
Ability to operate without direct supervision
Ability to deal with parents and children with tact
4. General Education
NVQ 3 in childcare, or equivalent qualification ‘S’
5. Physical:
Generally, must meet LBL requirements for the post
